Sign Up for Updates
The Gilmore has many opportunities for parents, families and the community to be a part of the school community. Please join us one of the offered events to share your ideas on how to keep moving the Gilmore forward!

Gilmore PTO/FACES:
5:00-6:00 pm
(sometimes time changes based on attendees who attend regularly)
A different take on PTO, this is a time where an agenda is set and it is business minded. We look for ways to fundraise and bring a brief update of the school happenings. We look forward to families bringing their ideas for ways to improvement events and experiences for families.
We look to ensure that a cross section of the community is represented to take on roles such as
  • Chairperson
  • Treasurer
  • Secretary
  • Fundraising Coordinator
  • Event Coordinator
  • Book Fair Coordinator
  • Social Media Coordinator
  • Community School Advisory Board Member
  • Superintendent Representative

Parent Café
5:30-7:00 PM

Parent Café is a process that came to the Gilmore through our partnership with the YMCA and their Strengthening Families program. We began this process in 2016. Parent Cafes are physically and emotionally safe spaces where parents and caregivers talk about challenges and victories of raising a family. We have learned overtime that this is a great way to establish trusting relationships and networks of support for our Gilmore Families. Parents share wisdom and strategies with one another as well as shed tears of sorrow and joy. Families eat dinner together provided by the school, then the children engage in play while families discuss a topic in a parent-to-parent structure in which we develop the 5 protective factors of:
  • Resilience: Parent Resilience
  • Relationships: Positive Social Connections
  • Support: Concrete Support in Times of Need
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of Parenting and Child Development
  • Communication: Social and Emotional Competence

Coffee & Conversation
8:00-9:00 am

Held monthly mostly in the mornings, we invite parents to enjoy a cup of coffee and danish with the school leadership team which involves the principal, assistant principal, nurse, school adjustment counselors, and ELA and Math specialists. We identify a topic for information sharing based on what feedback we hear from families about a current event or topic they are interested about. The topics have been about financial assistance during the Government Blackout, Summer Enrichment Camps and Programs to sign your children up for, counseling services available for families.
