Hello BPS families,
During our Open Houses this week, some families asked questions about how the district notifies the community if or when a case of COVID-19 is identified among the school population. Our nurses work with the Board of Health and our staff to identify and privately notify any close contacts. From there, the information is sent to the Central Administration Building and the Public Relations Department sends a text message to the entire school. We DO NOT and WILL NOT release any personally identifying information. The texts are sent on an as-needed basis so you may go days or weeks without receiving one because new cases have not been identified in your child's school.
If you have not already done so, please text “YES” to 675-87 to sign up for text messages. In addition to receiving COVID-19 updates, you will also receive other important info from the school via text.
The COVID-19 texts are for informational purposes only. We have an entirely separate process for notifying close contacts. While we understand families would sometimes like more information, please understand that your child’s teachers are not involved in the notification process and cannot provide you with any details. Questions about COVID-19 should be directed to the main office.
Our students and staff have been doing a great job wearing their masks, keeping their distance and washing their hands. Please keep up the great work. As a reminder, please keep your child home if they exhibit ANY symptoms of COVID-19 at any point this school year even if they are fully vaccinated.
Thank you.
