School-wide Family and Community Engagement Mission
Research provides more than 40 years of steadily accumulating evidence that family engagement is one of the strongest predictors of children’s school success (Weiss, Bouffard, Bridglall, & Gordon, 2009). The Huntington Elementary School will strengthen partnerships with families and community members to support student learning. We strive to provide meaningful interaction between our school and families that involves two-way communication and a purposeful focus on support of student learning. We will continue to cultivate and nurture our current partnerships with community agencies, stakeholders, and the Bridgewater State University College of Education and Allied Studies.
The Huntington Elementary School will strengthen communication between home, school and community partners. We will increase the number of opportunities for families and community members to become involved partners in their child’s educational experiences. Communication will be enhanced through a monthly school to home newsletter. We will partner with neighborhood agencies such as the Brockton Public Library, Keith Park Neighborhood Association, Campello Business Association and other community partners to provide opportunities for our students and their families to learn more about their community and to become more active, contributing members.
